T-Mobile and Ericsson have achieved speeds of 1.1 Gbps using 12-layer Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) technology, companies announced today.

This LAA technology builds upon operator’s deployments of 4x4 MIMO and 256 QAM and will give its customers even greater access to near gigabit speeds in 2018, said Neville Ray, Chief Technology Officer for T-Mobile.

Nokia Siemens Networks has announced that it achieved a record TD-LTE throughput speeds of 1.6 Gigabits per second (Gbps). In the demonstration, the company used its commercial Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station to receive and send data in simultaneous downlink and uplink connections, reaching an overall speed of 1.6 Gbps.

Alcatel-Lucent has announced that the company successfully demonstrated full interoperability of its solution for using 4G LTE wireless technology in public safety applications in the United States.

Spirent Communications has added testing capability to verify LTE to CDMA handover of mobile device signals using lab-based test equipment.
