NTT DOCOMO, NEC, Fujitsu and Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited have agreed to form a joint venture to focus on the development and sales of semiconductor products with built-in modem functions for use in communications equipment.

Nokia Siemens Networks has announced that it achieved a record TD-LTE throughput speeds of 1.6 Gigabits per second (Gbps). In the demonstration, the company used its commercial Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station to receive and send data in simultaneous downlink and uplink connections, reaching an overall speed of 1.6 Gbps.

SK Telecom has developed and applied new relay technologies for 5G networks using the ultra-high frequency bands to the trial network after its six-month-long collaboration with local partners, operator announced today. 

TeliaSonera has secured frequencies in the 800 MHz band in Estonia in a contest arranged by the Estonian Technical Surveillance Authority. Operator won 2 x 10 MHz frequencies in the 800 MHz band. According to operator, the 800 MHz frequencies will enable a faster roll-out of 4G services in Estonian rural areas.
