Warsaw-based LTE/LTE-Advanced IPR provider IS-Wireless has acquired funds for research on 5G radio interfaces. The funding is done through participation in 5GNOW European research project under the 7th Framework Program of EU.

Indonesian operator Indosat and Nokia Siemens Networks have conducted FDD LTE field trial in the 1800 MHz band.

ZTE has won China Mobile’s TD- LTE contract to construct operator’s TD-LTE network in five Chinese cities, namely Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Shenyang, with more than 13,000 carrier frequencies.

Three UK has 3.1 million 4G customers now, just 10-months on from its commercial launch, representing over a third of Three’s 8 million customers. Three began enabling customers in March with all subscribers eligible to access 4G at no extra cost.

Lithuanian mobile operator has announced that it is providing LTE connectivity to 80 percent of the country's population now. Additionally, Omnitel began offering 4G + LTE-Advanced services in the five largest cities in the country in December. 

South Korea's SK Telecom has demonstrated the LTE-Advanced service that offers up to 225Mbps of speed by aggregating 20MHz bandwidth in 1.8GHz band and 10MHz bandwidth in 800MHz band.
