Uk regulator Ofcom has announced the bidders in the forthcoming 4G mobile spectrum auction. Bidders will be competing to acquire spectrum in two separate bands – 800 MHz and 2.6 GHz to roll out 4G LTE mobile broadband services across the UK. Ofcom accepted applications to take part in the 4G auction on December 11 earlier this month.

Australian carrier Optus has completed acquisition of the Vividwireless Group from Seven Group Holdings (SGH). With up to 98MHz of spectrum in the 2.3GHz band across key population areas, Optus plans to offer high capacity 4G network.

Huawei plans to launch LTE TDD wireless broadband router, the Huawei B593, through Saudi Arabian operator Mobily in October this year.

AT&T continues to expand its LTE service coverage and recently launched LTE network in Harrison, AR; Watertown, NY and Hilton Head-Bluffton, SC. AT&T LTE coverage has also expanded in parts of Gary, Ind.; Tampa, Fla.; and Philadelphia, Pa. With this expansion AT&T's LTE network is now live in 161 markets.

Slovak Telekom has acquired 2 x 10 MHz spectrum in 800 MHz, 2 x 40 MHz spectrum in 2 600 MHz FDD and 50 MHz spectrum in 2600 MHz TDD. For acquired spectrum Slovak Telekom has paid altogether 60 846 000 EUR. 

Hi3G has awarded a contract to ZTE to deliver the next stage of the LTE infrastructure network as it builds out the LTE TDD/FDD dual-mode network in Sweden. Under new contract, ZTE will deliver the SDR-based infrastructure equipment to upgrade the operator's 3G network in Sweden.
