Optus is turning on its first commercial 4G LTE 700MHz network in Darwin and Perth CBDs. The launch follows the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) granting Optus an early access commercial licence for 4G 700MHz spectrum.

Clearwire has announced plans to test Test both FDD LTE and TDD LTE in US. In addition Clearwire  will test multiple coexistence scenarios between LTE and WiMAX as well.

SIMalliance has published an updated technical document for mobile network operators (MNOs) that specifies the integrated features required to provide optimal UICC support for LTE network and IMS services deployment. 

Wireless operator Taiwan Mobile has selected Nokia Solutions and Networks to roll-out of its multi-band LTE network. NSN will also deploy LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation technology to increase bandwidth and network performance by combining the 700 MHz and 1800 MHz spectrum bands.

LTE continues its impressive momentum in North Americas, Latin America and throughout the world. 5G Americas reported mobile subscriber data for the third quarter of 2016 which included significant regional milestones for LTE according to data and forecasts by Ovum. Global LTE connections rose 81 percent year-over-year in the third quarter. 

Nokia has deployed commercial LTE network in Algeria for the state-owned operator, Algérie Télécom. Under the contract, Nokia provided its Single RAN Advanced solution based on its Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station for the LTE network. 

Qualcomm has announced that its Qualcomm® Snapdragon 200 tier, the Snapdragon 210 processor, will offer integrated multimode 3G/4G LTE and LTE Dual SIM for entry-level smartphones.
