Australian carrier Telstra has switched on 5G technology across selected areas of the Gold Coast. The operator plans to launch more than 200 5G-capable sites around the country by the end of 2018.

Saudi Arabian telcos Mobily and STC have launched LTE services in the country.

Telenor has opened its LTE network for mobile phone usage as well. Operator's LTE services so far were available on PCs and tablets only. Telenor launched LTE network in Norway two months ago in 11 cities and towns. 

The small cell and femtocell company, Ubiquisys has announced deployment of its GM7 multi-mode cell for indoor public spaces in small cell programs. The new Ubiquisys cell supports LTE, 3G-HSPA+ and WiFi and is designed for use in a wide range of public spaces.

Huawei successfully completed an interoperability test (IOT) for an Ultra-Flash Circuit-switched fallback (CSFB) solution with Huawei infrastructure and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. chipsets at Huawei’s Shanghai R&D facility.

NTT DOCOMO and Huawei announced today that their joint test has successfully demonstrated that LTE can be deployed over the 5GHz unlicensed spectrum, which is widely used for wireless LAN networks in many countries today.
