Bharti Airtel has launched LTE services in Bangalore, India followed by the recent launch of the 4G services in Kolkata.  Airtel also introduced 'Smartbytes' for 4G a plan to allow customers to buy these add-on packs and use 4G services even after exhausting their monthly data limits.

Samsung has been selected by Japan’s telecom operator KDDI to supply LTE solutions. KDDI plans to launch a commercial LTE service in 2012.

Huawei announced EE, the BBC, Qualcomm Technologies and Huawei are collaborating in to exploring the role that 4G can play in the future of broadcasting.

Huawei has launched an end-to-end user trial for “Wireless to the Home” (WTTx) 5G service using a specially-designed 5G CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) unit. The trial is taking place in downtown Vancouver’s “5G Living Lab,” a co-venture with TELUS. 

Huawei has announced that it had completed a LTE to GSM CSFB (Circuit Switched Fallback) test to reduce voice setup delays from LTE to GSM network by two seconds, improve handover success rates and provide end users with better voice experience on GSM/LTE networks.

360 operators have commercially launched LTE networks and service in 124 countries, according to data released by GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association). Out of these, 96 LTE networks were launched in 2014.
