Alcatel-Lucent  and Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan’s service provider, are to commence the world’s first commercial deployment of G.fast ultra-broadband access technology, allowing the acceleration of ‘last mile’ connectivity to deliver ultra-fast fiber-like speeds to households everywhere.

Sri Lanka’s national network operator, Sri Lanka Telecom, together with Huawei Technologies, has successfully carried out a comprehensive field trial of Pre-5G LTE Advanced Pro technology, laying the groundwork for the next generation of broadband technologies.

Nokia and T-Mobile have inked a $3.5 billion agreement to accelerate the deployment of a nationwide 5G network. Nokia will provide T-Mobile with its complete end-to-end 5G technology, software, and services portfolio.

Airspan Networks has announced AutoAir, a 5G testbed for connected and autonomous vehicles as part UK’s £25M 5G digital strategy. The company is part of “AutoAir” consortium, a neutral host based small cell solution for transportation networks in the UK.

To deliver high quality mobile broadband voice and data services, telecommunications service provider Telenor has selected small cells technology from Alcatel-Lucent. Under a new global frame agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will provide Telenor with  small cell base stations to support its customers.

Singtel and Ericsson plan to trial License Assisted Access (LAA), on Singtel's network starting March 2016. The trial is part of the partners' memorandum of understanding to study the future of 5G networks and its applications for both consumers and enterprises.

Omnitel, TeliaSonera's subsidiary in Lithuania, has expanded its LTE network coverage to most of the territory of Kaunas and the capital of the northern and western dis
