Indian telecom operator Bharti Airtel has selected Nokia Networks to roll out its 3G network in 5 new telecom circles and network expansion in 3 existing telecom circles*. Under the 4-year contract, the company will provide its radio elements and services expertise to power Bharti Airtel’s infrastructure.

TeliaSonera’s subsidiary, the mobile operator EMT in Estonia,  plans to extend LTE coverage to 70 percent of the country's population.

Telstra, Ericsson, Qualcomm and NETGEAR have announced a commercial launch of Gigabit LTE network and device. Telstra confirmed at the "Gigabit LTE Experience" event in Sydney today that their Gigabit LTE service has launched in select state capital city CBDs, with more to follow.

T-Mobile has launched LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) in the Czech Republic. Operator has deployed Carrier aggregation function by combining two bands in Mlada Boleslav to increase download speeds up to 225 Mbit/s for upload to 50Mbit/s.

Deutsche Telekom, Alcatel-Lucent and Airbus have successfully tested direct data communication using LTE technology, between an aircraft and a wireless network on the ground. When commercial, this solution will be able to provide in-flight mobile voice and broadband data communications services cost-effectively.

ZTE plans to unveil a Gigabit smartphone at MWC 2017. Returning to Barcelona for the 13th time, the company will focus on leading 5G evolution, advancing cloudification, creating the Internet of Everything, and developing state of art devices. 

Sunrise and Huawei demonstrated  5G performance with download data throughput of 3.28 Gbit/s in the 3.5 GHz (band 42) frequency band at the 5G lab at Sunrise headquarters in Zurich Oerlikon. The operator plans to use the same configuration from 2020.
