Russian mobile service provider Scartel has implemented VoLTE (voice over LTE) with SRVCC (Single Radio Voice Call Continuity) using Huawei's solution. Following implementation of the solution, Scartel is now technologically capable of supporting voice calls on its LTE network.

Vodafone Ireland has introduced 4G+ technology with data speeds of up to 150Mbps in Ireland. Vodafone customers in Waterford city will have 4G+ access from 1st December, while Cork, Dublin and Limerick cities will be switched on by the end of December.

Indian telecom operator Bharti Airtel has selected Nokia Networks to roll out its 3G network in 5 new telecom circles and network expansion in 3 existing telecom circles*. Under the 4-year contract, the company will provide its radio elements and services expertise to power Bharti Airtel’s infrastructure.

Cellular base station architectures are shifting from traditional macrocells to distributed base stations and toward the growing use of small cell base stations. Number of LTE small cells shipments will surpass the number of LTE macrocells as early as 2014, predicts ABI Research. Company estimates that  127,000 LTE small cells would be sold against 113,000 by 2014.

ZTE has announced that it has successfully deployed an LTE network for telecoms operator Telenor in Hungary. The first phase of the network covers 76 towns in Hungary.
