NEC is participating in a LTE field trial with Telefonica Moviles Argentina S.A., a subsidiary of Telefonica.

AT&T continues to expand LTE coverage in existing markets and has now switched on its 4G LTE service in 17 new markets this week. With this expansion AT&T 4G LTE is now available in 278 markets.

Having already surpassed its 2012 4G LTE deployment plan, AT&T continues to add new LTE markets. Operator today launched its LTE service in Salt Lake City, Utah; Albuquerque, NM; Reading, Penn. and Guayama, San German-Cabo Rojo, and Yauco, Puerto Rico. With these additions, AT&T LTE is now live in 109 markets.

Canadia's Fido plans to launch LTE service this summer across major markets in Canada, including in the cities and surrounding areas of Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal and St. Johns with more cities to launch throughout 2012.

Japan's mobile operator NTT DOCOMO has unveiled its 2013 spring lineup of 12 models that will launch in sequence beginning on January 25. The lineup includes 11 smartphones and tablets, plus one mobile Wi-Fi router. The models feature upgraded versions of numerous popular functions introduced in the 2012 winter lineup.

Verizon Wireless has turned on the LTE in 19 additional metropolitan areas today, as well as expanding the 4G LTE network in San Francisco and Detroit.
